Inspiration For Plume Summer Collection

“What I love most is the design process,  in creating my designs, I treat them much like a painting," says Plume designer, Kate Collins.  But before adding any strokes to her blank canvas, lets her surroundings and inspiration guide her.

From the soothing landscapes of a beach vacation, to the simple prints and bright colors of traditional crafts around the world, Kate easily fills her canvas with what is now Plume's first collection.  Kate gets inspiration and fulfillment from incorporating traditional design and craft with contemporary urban style to create unique exclusive pieces.  This is showcased in the Plume's clogs.  Kate collaborated with Nina Z Clogs, which are made in Sweden. Kate had the idea to add a beaded leather strap detail made by artisans in Kenya.  Plume's clogs will be available as part of the summer collection.

For Kate, a painting or a collection for that matter, should be more than aesthetically pleasing.

”I to create pieces for every woman. I imagine my designs on a diverse set of women's shapes and colors.”

Like in her paintings, when thinking about the final product, Kate pays attention to the details, shapes, colors, patterns and materials.

“The dress should fall at the perfect length, and the shirt should accentuate the most appealing and beautiful points on the body.
